Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesulitan menulis yang dihadapi siswa, serta strategi untuk mengatasi kesulitan tersebut. Metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Peneliti menggunakan kuesioner untuk mengumpulkan data. Pesertanya adalah dua puluh lima mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris semester satu tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sembilan siswa mengalami kesulitan tata bahasa, delapan siswa bermasalah dengan gaya akademik, dan tiga siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam pengorganisasian tulisan dan kosa kata. Selanjutnya, menulis mandiri adalah salah satu strategi yang paling umum digunakan oleh siswa. Memahami kesulitan siswa dan strategi keterampilan menulis akan memberikan dampak yang baik pada hasil proses pembelajaran.
