Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Types of articles suitable for publication include the following; research reports, conceptual ideas, and theory applications.
  • Articles are written in English using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition. They are typed 1.5 spaced in a quarto paper size (A4) and in Times New Roman font 12 pt, between 8-15 pages in length or about 4.000-7.000 words.
  • Reference management format is based on APA (American Psychological Association) style 7th edition and it is suggested to use Mendeley as the reference management tool.
  • Every manuscript submitted for publication in Journal of English Language Pedagogy (ELP) will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin software. If the editors or peer reviewers detect plagiarism, the author/s will be notified and asked to rewrite the text or provide any necessary citations. If the Turnitin report yields a similarity index of more than 25%, the manuscript will be ineligible for review and publication.
  • Since manuscript submission year 2023, Authors should pay some processing fees (IDR 100.000). It covers DOI (Digital Object Identifiers) registration for each paper, checking the article similarity by Turnitin, and final editing stage of the paper.

Author Guidelines

Title: The title is no more than 15 words in length and should be in 14 point normal Times New Roman.

Author detail: Include the name of the authors and their affiliation. Full name(s) of the author(s) must be stated, along with his/her/their institution and email address. Author names should be in 13 pt Times Roman bold. Author affiliations should be in 11 pt Times Roman italic. Author email addresses should be in 10 pt Times Roman.

Abstract and Keywords: Abstract should be written in English with Italic Style using Times New Roman 11pt and the number of words is max 250 with single spacing. Abstract provides a simple and explicit description of the main article; research problem, method, research result, and conclusion. The abstract is only one paragraph. Below the abstract, about three to five keywords should appear together with the main body of the article with a font size 11.

Introduction: The introduction is written without sub-headings. Font Times New Roman 12 pt. The authors should have sufficient background and a very short literature survey to record existing solutions/methods, show the best of previous research, demonstrate the main limitations of the previous research, clearly show what you hope to achieve (resolve limits) and demonstrate the scientific merit or novelties of the paper. State the objectives of your work at the end of the introduction section.

Method: It specifically states research design, participants, measures, and data analysis. It may or may not be mentioned as subheadings. When they are mentioned as separate subheadings, they should be written using in level 2: Times New Roman, 12 pt, Small Caps, Bold. Give sufficient detail to enable your work to be replicated. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference: only relevant modifications should be described.

Findings and Discussion: Explain your research finding according to the research problem and objective. If applicable, use graphs and tables, but also summarize your key results in the findings. The discussion should highlight the most significant result, but do not repeat what has been written in the finding section. The discussion aims to interpret and describe the significance of your findings in light of what was previously known about the research problem under investigation, as well as to explain any new understanding or insights that emerged as a result of your investigation.

Conclusion and Suggestion: Put your interpretation from your research result and discussion. You can also mention recommendations or suggestions here. The conclusion is to describe the main idea that illustrates the answer to the research question. The suggestion presents an advanced idea to be developed in subsequent research.

Acknowledgments (optional): Provide credit to funding bodies and agencies that have been of assistance during the project, such as by financially supporting it.

References: Put all your references referred to in the article here. The references referred to in the Journal of English Language Pedagogy are from primary sources (scientific journal articles) published in the last 10 years. The minimum reference is 10 resources and a minimum of 80% references from the journal. Journal of English Language Pedagogy uses American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition style.
