Abstract

The problem of this study is "Do mathematics problem solving ability towards students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Solok handouts better than without handouts on learning cycle strategy?". This study aims to determine mathematics problem solving ability towards students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Solok using handout sare better than without handouts.This study is a quasi experimen. Its population is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Solok, registered in the school year 2016/2017, except for class VIIIA and VIIIB class because they are superior class. The sampling technique is cluster random sampling, after normality test using uji Lilliefors population and population homogeneity test using uji Bartlett. Classes are chosen to be sampled in this study were students VIIIF as an experimental class with 45 students and VIIID grade students as a control class with 45 students. The data analysis technique used is the equation of the two uji-z test. Based on the calculation the value zhitung = 1.81 and  ztabel = 1.64 means H0 rejected and H1 accepted. It can be concluded that mathematics problem solving ability towards students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Solok using handouts better than without handouts on learning cycle strategy
