Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of cooperative learning models on exchanging pairs accompanied by handouts of students' mathematics learning outcomes in class XI IPA SMAN 1 Sungai Geringging. This research is a pre-experiment with a randomized control group only design research design. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA SMAN 1 Sungai Geringging. Sampling using purposive sampling technique is class XI IPA2 as the experimental class and class XI IPA1 as the control class. Learning outcomes that are analyzed are learning outcomes in the cognitive domain. Based on data analysis obtained the average value in the experimental class is 78,91 and the average value in the control class is 66,5 meaning that the average experimental class is higher than the control class. The results of the t-test analysis obtained tcount = 4,53 and t (0,05; 60) = 1,67. The results of the calculation can be seen tcount > ttable means that H0 is rejected, it means students' mathematics learning outcomes by applying cooperative learning models to exchange pairs accompanied by handouts are better than learning outcomes in the control class.
