Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students' ability to solve mathematical problems in calculus 2 courses. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was conducted in 2 cycles. The steps in each cycle are planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting, which are the basis for planning improvements to the next cycle. The research subjects were students of the mathematics education study program who took the Calculus 2 course at FKIP UMMY for the 2011/2022 academic year, a total of 19 people. The research data were analyzed descriptively from the test. The results showed increased students' mathematical problem-solving ability from 21.1% in cycle I to 52.6% in cycle II. So it can be concluded that the CTL approach can improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in calculus 2 lectures at FKIP UMMY Solok.
