Abstract

The population in this study were grade VIII students of Hiliran Gumanti 1 Junior High School with Cluster Random Sampling sampling technique and the selected sample was students of class VIII3 as the experimental class and class VIII4 as the control class, which used the normality test and population homogeneity test first. with the Bartlet test. After the learning process is carried out in the sample class, a test is done at the end, namely a test of understanding mathematical concepts consisting of 5 items with essay forms. From the test results, it was seen that most of the students were above the KKM, then to test the research hypothesis first on the final test results were tested for normality and homogeneity in the sample class. For the normality test in the experimental class, L0 <Ltabel (0.1335 <0.1933) and the control class L0 <Ltabel (0.1928 <0.1933), means that the two sample classes are normally distributed, while the homogeneity test is obtained Fcount <Ftable (1.14 <2.12), meaning that both sample classes have a homogeneous variance. Furthermore, the hypothesis test is performed using the t test, after the calculation is done, it is obtained tcount> ttable (1.81> 1.68), then the decision is H0 rejected. It can be concluded that the understanding of students' mathematical concepts with the application of LKS on the recitation method is better than understanding the mathematical concepts of students by using the recitation method without LKS at the 1 st Hiliran Gumanti Middle School.
