Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of student mathematics problem solving by applying the learning model PBI using visual media is better than no visual media in class VII SMP Negeri 3 X Koto Singkarak .The population in this study were students of class VII SMP Negeri 3 X Koto Singkarak Academic Year 2015/2016 scattered in six classes. The sample in this study is VIIB class as a class experiment with the number of students 24 and VIIC class as a class controls the number of students 24 people . This type of research is experimental research with the study design Randomized Control Group Only Design . How sampling conducted in Cluster Random Sampling . The data analysis technique used is the equation of the two averages t tes. From the calculation, t = 2.48 and t table = 1.677 shows that t > t table then the hypothesis HI is accepted at 95% confidence level . It can be concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students to apply learning model PBI using visual media is better than no visual media on the class VII SMP Negeri 3 X Koto Singkarak in the academic year 2015/2016 .
